Because this group is broad, judging a listing on freshness, turnover and how consistent recent reviews are tends to work better than judging by decor or price range alone. Most kitchens in Metuchen will adjust a dish for common dietary needs like gluten-free or vegetarian if you ask when ordering. Hours vary widely: diners and fast-food chains often stay open late or around the clock, while bakeries and cafes tend to open early and close mid-afternoon. Catering and food delivery businesses in New Jersey usually require advance notice, from a day for a small order up to a week or more for a large event, so it is worth contacting them early.

Hours are published for 6 days a week. The most common schedule is 3–8:30 pm. Note that it does not open on Thursday. Customers rate it 4.8 out of 5 on Google across 260 reviews, placing it among the better-regarded vegetarian & vegan in Metuchen.

Metuchen is in New Jersey, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Metuchen follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

I finally made the trip from Queens to The Red Cafe in New Jersey and let me just say… it was 1000% worth it. It’s a super small, cozy mom-and-pop shop with so much character. You can tell there’s so much love put into every dish. Everything is completely plant-based and made from scratch, and honestly… you can taste the difference. We started with the Sweet Plantains and WOW. Perfectly roasted sweet plantains topped with vegan mozzarella and provolone. Sweet, cheesy, comforting… I could’ve eaten two orders. For my entrée I got the Roasted Cauliflower, which came with vegan gouda, a bright lemony mayo dressing, and the most delicious herby lentil salad. Every bite had so much flavor. The cauliflower was perfectly roasted, the dressing tied everything together, and the lentil salad was so fresh and satisfying. The menu has so much variety, which I really appreciated. There are so many options that I already know what I want to try next time. Is it a little on the pricey side? Yes. Was it worth every dollar? Absolutely. As someone who’s been eating more plant-based for 3 years I’m always looking for restaurants that don’t just make vegan food… they make really good food. The Re

Our first time there today. We are not from this area but were seeking a well-reviewed all-vegan restaurant for lunch. Red's Leaf did not disappoint! What a treat - we ate outdoors on this lovely day and I dined on a cheesy roasted cauliflower dish and a fresh slaw salad with roasted lentils (cucumber cilantro dressing); hubby had a Just Egg and cheese with veggie bacon on an everything bagel with roasted golden potatoes. All SO delicious!!! And fresh! As longtime vegans, we loved the food, and truly appreciated the excellent service and recommendations. We even went for a walk after lunch and went back to Red's Leaf for a couple of yummy smoothies! 5 stars from us, and we will return! 👍🏼❤️

Just because people start businesses or open up restaurants doesn't mean that they know what they're doing. Red leaf is mediocre. Their food is from the same truck spinning the block In just about 100% of these restaurants. Costco, Sam's club, restaurant Depot etc. So there's no reason why we should be paying $31 for the same "lion's mane" dish that lacks the orange glaze it's supposed to have. They've increased the dish by like $5-$7 and it lacks even more. They increased everything. Everyone gets away with inflation so.... Plus I believe they gave me oyster mushrooms instead of lion's mane. $31 for a half-ass portion and potentially deep fried oyster mushrooms which are cheaper than lion's mane. I work with these mushrooms myself directly from local farms out of state. I should be able to distinguish. We pay for the distinction between the two because they serve both. They have a chai latte that I ordered and it came back as warm milk. No flavor. They had to take it back. It was literally hot milk nothing more. The hibiscus tea is a tea bag not even loose tea but you're going to pay at least four bucks. All of it is ridiculous. The salad is the shredded bags of salad from Sam's c

Quick Review: Plant-Based Perfection If you’re looking for a spot where the food is fast but the quality is high, this is it. We walked right in with no wait time, and for $40 for a two-person meal, the value is genuinely hard to beat. Here is the breakdown of the dishes: • Lentil Soup: A soulful, hearty start. It felt incredibly nourishing—exactly what you want from a well-seasoned, classic lentil base. • Chimichurri Seitan: The absolute star of the show. The seitan had a fantastic texture, and the chimichurri added a bright, herby zing that cut through the richness perfectly. • Panini Sandwich: Perfectly pressed and packed with flavor. It had that satisfying crunch on the outside while staying tender and savory on the inside.

I've been here twice for breakfast and then lunch. Both meals were excellent. Everyone was happy with their food. The food is tasty and beautifully presented. There is a range of prices, with the upper end approaching $30. There are mocktails, smoothies and other healthful soft drinks The place has indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating has stools so we opted for table inside.
